A Super Time Saver: Frozen Crushed Garlic

I just had to share one of my cooking time savers. This is a perfect tip for busy mamas, or anyone else that needs to save some time while cooking. I was at the grocery store doing some major restocking after not cooking for a couple of weeks (that’s what can happens when the whole family has the flu), and I realized this little tip is something I use all week long. Perfect to share with YOU!

You can find this frozen crushed garlic in the freezer section of many grocery stores – I buy mine at Trader Joe’s. Here’s a link to Dorot - and they’ll tell you where else you can find it near you.

Don’t get me wrong, I also use fresh garlic quite a bit in my cooking. But when I don’t feel like dealing with it, or simply don’t have the time, I drop a cube (or two, or more!) in whatever I’m making…soups, stir fry, sauteed vegetables…oh the list could go on and on.

This is what the back of the package looks like, and you can simply just pop a clove out, like an ice cube. The flavor is infinitely better than using garlic out of a jar.

They also have herbs available (basil, cilantro, parsley) – I don’t use these quite as often, but I do use them.

Have you used it before? Would it help? Do you cook with garlic? What do you do to save time in the kitchen? Do you cook? ;-)

I love these! I have also used the Basil and Cilantro - both are good! :)

Yay! Love your site, by the way. ;-)

  • I use it all the time and love it. I did find that when I buy too many packages at a time, by the time I get to the last package some of the cubes are a little icy. Still tastes great though.

Good point. I go through them pretty quickly, but you don't want them sitting around and getting freezer burned!
