Penny Sense: More Money in 2010

This is the year – I’m declaring it.

This is the year to UP our incomes!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about noticing the money coming in. Have you been doing it? I have. And seriously, I’ve been amazed. But what it really got me thinking about is, income. Focusing on the money coming in – and growing it. And who doesn’t want that?

I spent nearly a decade in the world of professional financial services. One thing that we never really focused on was income. How to make the money come in. So I guess that’s one of the reasons why I’m a recovering financial planner (thanks to my friend, Dawn, for the phrase). Financial services taught me lots about money – some good things, some not-so-good things. But it never really focused on making money. So in the years since I’ve left the industry, I’ve been studying. And learning. And I’m going to share it with you.

Did you know…only 3% of the women in the world have ever made a million dollars?!

It’s time to change that, ladies. For the next few Penny Sense posts, we’re going to talk about income. If you have ideas or opinions, please share. We all have a lot to learn here. But most importantly, I’d like to hear if you’re in. Let us all know if:

2010 is going to be a money-changing year for you.

  • You know I grew up around money & with it came some negative connotations.
In the past; I was afraid of money, afraid of snobs, & afraid of responsibilities.
But NOW I want to be humble but proud of myself and I know I deserve if I choose; to be one of those women who created a million dollar atomosphere & reality. I am on my way ladies at a calm pace. Cheers to all :)

Yay! Good for you! You know, I think so much is possible once we let go of some "limiting beliefs," don't you? Congratulations.

We're definitely focused on bringing more money in this year. Working hard for a pay bump at my job and hopeful my husband will get his salary back after a pay cut in December 2008. Not only that but for the first time ever we're thinking about other ways to invest and grow our money; perhaps dabbling in some stocks. I am positive we'll increase in our incomes this year. Just in time to find new ways to spend it I'm sure.

I second the notion that we can make this year a money-changing year! I've started already... I'll let you know when I get scheduled for that interview!!!

    Woohooo! Keep us posted.

I can't wait to follow these posts! I've been creating my business plan (with some pushing by my hubby!) and have been struggling with quantifying income that will come in through various streams - web design/dev projects, blog revenue (sponsorships, affiliates), e-book, speaking engagements, coaching sessions, etc. I know that I can make money through all of these venues, but how much??? Don't know if this is just taboo stuff to discuss or not, but I sure am curious!
  • PSAnney
So not taboo! I believe it's so important to do business planning...and when you're just starting a business, it can be challenging to quantify those numbers because you're producing new products...(and have you tested the market?) I'm going to talk about business planning in the future too. So many women business owners just skip this (important) step! Thanks for the comment!
  • I would love to figure out how to bring more money in! I am TTC and my hubby supports us right now, I'm hoping to build a profitable biz blogging...which sounds kind of pipe dreamish...but I've been really learning all the ins and the outs for about a year now...and I don't give up so we'll see.
Love your blog and your thoughts! I will keep up with you. Btw-if you haven't discovered SITS yet...you should. It's a great way to market your blog and get some comments aflowin'...http://www.thesitsgirls.com/
  • PSAnney
Ah, thanks so much! (For the kind words and great tips!) I'll check out the sits girls for sure...and I'll be talking more about income ideas and such for the next few weeks - stay tuned!
P.S. You're adorable, btw, and love what you're posting on your blog!
